Salutes Space, a CASSINI Hackathon winner, is transforming AI-driven space computing with ultra-efficient chips that enhance real-time, in-orbit data processing.
Industry sectors

The startup launched CHIRB in 2025, expanding applications in space, defence, and IoT, advancing toward full-scale deployment and reshaping the future of intelligent space systems.

Their chips use 90% less power while providing three times more reliable data, processed directly on the device.

Space missions rely heavily on Earth-based data processing, which introduces delays, increases costs, and limits autonomy. As space exploration and satellite operations become more complex, the need for faster, more efficient onboard AI-driven processing has become critical. By enabling real-time, in-orbit data analysis, Salutes Space's solution reduces dependence on ground stations, enhances mission autonomy, and significantly lowers operational costs, paving the way for more resilient and intelligent space systems. This advanced AI integration extends beyond space, with applications in industries ranging from defence and IoT to critical infrastructure.

From Concept to Reality: The Impact of the CASSINI Hackathon

Their solution was first conceived during the 5th CASSINI Hackathon: Space for Defence & Security, held on March 24-26, 2023. During the event, they developed their concept, pitched their project and secured the 1st place in the CASSINI Hackathon in Sweden. Led by Sobhy Fouda, the team received valuable support and mentorship throughout the weekend from participating experts—many of whom continue to serve on their advisory board, guiding them in the next steps of their entrepreneurial journey. After validating their business concept and integrating critical feedback from the hackathon, the team moved forward with company incorporation just three months later.

‘’The CASSINI Hackathon was a turning point in our journey. Winning the 5th edition in Sweden "Space for Defence and Security: Challenge #3 Securing our Infrastructure " and being recognized as a top 10 team in Europe gave us not only credibility but also invaluable mentorship from EUSPA. It opened doors to strategic advisors, long-term guidance, and further success in the Idea Track Challenges. Now, in 2025, we set our sights on the Product Track, aiming to take our journey from 0 to 10 to 100K EUR. CASSINI was the launchpad that transformed our vision into reality." – M. Sobhy Fouda, CEO & Founder of Salutes Space

Advancing Technology and Exploring New Markets

With the support of CASSINI, Salutes Space refined its business case, gained a deeper understanding of its market segments, and advanced its technology. While preparing to enter the market, they discovered new applications for their technology beyond space, including ground operations in IoT, industry, and drones. To validate their technology, Salutes Space has conducted three pilot projects—two within the space industry and one in the IoT sector.

In February 2025, at Web Summit in Qatar, Salutes Space made a game-changing announcement: the launch of CHIRB (Computing on Hybrid Interplanetary Relay Basis)—a revolutionary AI-driven system that merges Web2.0 and Web3.0 into a next-generation control portal for space, defence, and industrial AI applications proving that Salutes Space isn’t just innovating in space operations—they are redefining the very foundation of AI-powered networks.

Awards and Recognitions

In 2023, Salutes Space was selected by the European Space Agency's (ESA) incubator in Bavaria to further develop its hackathon-winning project. The company was also recognized by the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) and Cassini Challenges as one of the top innovative ideas for 2024, leveraging space technologies to enhance the competitiveness of the space industry.

Additionally, Salutes Space won the "Economics of the Future" prize at the Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) Global Finals 2024, recognizing its contributions to the industry. Competing against 100 startups from 52 countries, Salutes Space stood out for its Robot-on-Chip technology.

Looking Ahead

Salutes Space is actively raising funds to advance its Technology Readiness Level (TRL) from 6 to 8-9, bringing its technology closer to full-scale deployment. As part of its growth strategy, Salutes Space is also forging strategic partnerships with key players in the space, defence, and IoT industries to accelerate commercialization.

"No matter how hard it becomes, keep moving onwards and upwards." — M. Sobhy Fouda, CEO of Salutes Space
