The latest destination for the European Space Expo (ESE) was Dublin. This spectacular exhibition made its most recent landing between 4 and 9 June in the centre of the Irish capital at the Trinity College Dublin. The ESE has been a massive hit across Europe and Dublin was no exception with plenty of activities for all ages during its week in the Emerald Isle.

The need for expanded horizons was a central theme of the recent European Navigation Conference in Vienna, with sessions across the three days of the conference dedicated to various Galileo and EGNOS based applications for which markets can be developed.

The week of 13 May 2013 was the opportunity to explore EU-Japan industrial cooperation in downstream GNSS markets, with the opening of the first GNSS.Asia Japan workshop held in Tokyo, which gathered over 70 participants from the Japanese industry and academia in discussions with European counterparts.

The workshop enabled the European Commission, the GSA and the stakeholders to exchange their viewpoints and experience about the European GNSS downstream applications sector.

On the 14th of May 2013, Antonio Tajani, the Vice- President of the European Commission, responsible for enterprise and industry policy, and Ana Pastor, Spanish Minister of Transport, inaugurated the European GNSS Service Centre in the Loyola de Palacio building in Spain.

During the European Helicopter Show (EHS 2013) in Hradec Králové airport, helicopter operators, OEMs and avionics manufacturers highlighted EGNOS benefits to the rotorcraft community.

Today, Antonio Tajani, European Commission Vice-President, responsible for enterprise and industry policy, and Ana Pastor, Spanish Minister of Transport, inaugurated the European GNSS Service Centre in Torrejon outside Madrid within the National Institute of Aerospace Technologies (INTA) facilities with large attendance of Spanish authorities.

The 21st European Navigation Conference culminated with the international kick-off for this year’s European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC). For 2013 this prestigious competition has prizes totalling € 1 million.

With the official international kick-off for the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) in Vienna on 25th of April, entries are now open for the 2013 GSA Special Topic Prize. Innovative ideas with business potential using European GNSS are once more being sought with a valuable business prize on offer for the best product or service concept.
